Nowadays, Facebook is one of the most vastly used social medias. With over 1.71 billion users, it allows people to share their life with, not only their friends, but essentially the world.
When your privacy is reduced to only a couple of clicks, should you worry about who sees your profile? If you have a car accident, or a work-related injury, could the information you post online be used against you in the event of a hearing before the Tribunal Administratif du Québec (TAQ) or the Tribunal Administratif du Travail (TAT)?
In short, the answer is YES! Jurisprudence has shown that the evidence taken from your social media accounts CAN indeed be used against you by the CNESST, the SAAQ, or even your employer. Hence why you should be very careful when choosing your confidentiality settings online, and always be mindful of the content you’re uploading.
